With its peculiar double peak, Pedraforca is an icon of Catalunya and the country’s hiking community. Its surroundings are very particular as it does not form part of any mountain range and this offers different treks apt for both hikers and mountaineers alike. Beyond its geological richness and wildlife, the mystique which surrounds the mountain ensures that everyone who climbs to its peak will never forget the day they reached the highest part of Pedraforca.

One of Saldes’ greatest attractions is to roam its many hidden spots during the mushroom picking season. In the shadow of the mighty Pedraforca grow a wide variety of wild mushrooms for those with the patience to get lost between its woods, fields and rocks in search of these exquisite fungi. Having said that however, you never reveal the places where you find them.

The valleys and mountains that make up the Cadí-Moixerón Natural Park are ideal settings for hikers and cyclists and are full of beautiful routes for the gentlest hikers to the most avid mountaineers. In addition to Pedraforca, the Cadí-Moixeró boasts the source of the River Llobregat which lies less than 30km from the hostel. In the winter season, the ski slopes at Cerdanya are less than an hour away.
